Asgard Audio | Lexington, Kentucky
My friend Mike Hulliger is a world class live sound engineer based here in Lexington, KY. He has run sound for countless festival events, as well as venues in the region. We worked out a trade involving our respective services, then I got to work as his audio engineer logo designer.
Hand Drawn Logo Design for Live Sound Company
Mike is very proud of his Norse heritage, and he even sports multiple tattoos featuring Viking themes. Even his company name is based on Asgard, the mythological home of the gods. For his logo, Mike asked me to draw up an image of the guardian god Heimdall. He stands watch at the Bifröst, which is the rainbow bridge that connects Asgard to other realms. Since his mystical Gjallarhorn is pressed to his lips, he is ready to signal the start of Ragnarök, which is the Norse apocalypse.
I based my drawing off of a statue of Heimdall, purposely keeping the grey stone hue intact. The half circle frame surrounding him is composed of a maze-like pattern typically found in Norse and Greek architecture.
The grey statue and black and white frame pop out from the rainbow spectrum in the center. This symbolizes the rainbow bridge, but Mike also wanted it featured as a signal that his business is LGBTQ friendly.
Typography Treatment
I often use a mixture of fonts for logo designs. However, for this project, I decided to stick with just one. This strong, thick font features hard edges that conjure up images of axes and swords, ready for battle. I made the word “Asgard” at the top larger than “Audio” in order to emphasize the original theme.
Looking for an Audio Engineer Logo Designer?
As I continue my career, I am diving deeper into hand drawing designs. Anyone can generate generic, stolen “art” with lazy ChatGPT prompts. Those do not command respect or convey expertise in your field, especially if you work in the arts. If you want a unique, original logo to represent your brand, then you have to hire a skilled graphic designer.
